Elizabeth (Murphy) Walker
Elizabeth Murphy, Farmington, Mo., daughter of William and Rachel Murphy, was united in marriage to Laken Dubart Walker in 1804. Mr. Walker was a native of North Carolina, was born in 1779, and came to Missouri in 1803. He settled on the farm known as the Walker farm, one and one-half miles southeast of Farmington, Mo. He received this place as a Spanish grant. The original tract was six hundred and forty acres. This place now comprises one hundred and twenty-five acres.

Laken Dubart Walker, the father of these children, was assessor of St. Francois County, Mo., during the years of 1823-26; was Judge of County Court, 1825- 27, and Sheriff from 1828-33.
In all the years of his residence in St. Francois County, he was closely connected with the public
interests, through his active service in behalf of many beneficial projects and through his influence and support of plans for the general good. He died in 1833.
Elizabeth Murphy Walker died in 1868.
